Events Schedule

1. CORTEZ Small Craft Festival - April 20 - 22! Friday through Sunday! Yes these are the correct dates! Come by boat or by car. Camping on site. If the weather is good, some of us may sail from Ft. DeSoto and sail across Tampa Bay to the Intracoastal. Only a few miles south of Tampa Bay on the ICW.

2. Crystal River Boat Bash - April 28th - 29th - Join Squadron Members and CRBB founders Steve Kingerly, Bill Whalen, and Michael Burwell at the boat Bash in Crystal River. Camping on site! Check out their progress on the 37 ft. Civil War Era Sailing Scow the group is building! Bring your boat to show or sail. Campfires and lots of good food! Not far from US 19 just north of Crystal River!

3. Cedar Key Small Boat Meet - May 4th - 6th - Bigger and Better than ever! JSI is giving away door prizes at the cookout again! We hope to have a decent PA system this year. Looking for los of helpers to take money, hand out wristbands, serve food, and help set up and take down tables. Last year was the best ever in that regard. Hoping that the management of the Gulfside Motel will allow us to do it again. Call them FIRST if you don't have reservations yet! Mention the WCTSS - 352-543-5308.

4. Florida 120 - May 17th - 20th - This year the event starts in Gulf Breeze, FL at ShoreLine Park, and sails between the beautiful white sand beaches of Santa Rosa Sound. To get details and sign up, you must join the Yahoo Group for the FL 120. There is also a required form to print out and sign. The Squadron will be well represented at this year's FL 120! So far 6 or 7 members of the Squadron are signed up.

5. SPRING in JUNE! - June 11th - 14th! - SPRING stants for Sailing, Partying, Relaxing, Inshore, Navigational Gala! (thanks Ed) To be held during the week to avoid the crowds, we'll sail to the Silver Glen Springs off of Lake George. Launch at Astor, just south of the lake.

6. Ted's Excellent Annual Suwannee River paddle: Arrive Wednesday Evening - June 20. Paddle June 21 and 22. Leave on the 22nd or 23rd.

The float plan: A repeat of last year's trip, because it's the best section of the river for a summer paddle. There are several cool springs, low boat traffic, especially during the week, and convenient shuttle routes. First day, Charles Springs to State Rd 51 bridge (nine miles). Second day, 51 bridge to Royal Springs (10 miles).

What to bring: Beer and snacks for the first night. Some pocket change for all-you- can-eat southern cooking in town the second night, and for deli food on the way to put-ins.

Accommodations: One spare queen bed in the cabin, floor space in the cabin for three or four more, space on the screened-in porch for two more and plenty of camping space next to the cabin or down by the river. Nights in June are cool, but electricity for fans can be run outside.

Address: 22292 135th Ct. O'Brien, Florida

Note: If you don't have a boat, there are a few different size canoes available for use real cheap (free). Two of the canoes are set up with home-made outriggers for rowing.
